New Beginnings
Challenging times help us find the humanity that binds us all together.

Winter Solstice, a time for diving deeply inward. A time to assess the year's events, our trials and errors, and joys and victories. At the year's end, it is also time to plan a new beginning and what we would like to create next. It is a time to sprout new seeds within us. We can feel that a new wave is on the horizon, but we can not see it yet. It is a time of waiting for the next surge.
This year has had more endings and new beginnings than most of us had planned for on this planet. In fact many are feeling like our lives are built on quick sand and are at the mercy of every wave that washes on our fragile shores. Our lives can shift in a instant, and our sand castles can be leveled with one speedy wave, making room for something totally new to emerge. Nothing has made us realize this more than the historical tsunami disaster in Asia this holiday season.
The universe can shift without warning and take us along for the ride. Our human side would like to keep an even keel to keep our ships afloat. We like to know what waves are coming our way so we can prepare. But alas we are living in a living universe, an ocean of life, that is always changing and evolving. Our human nature can never be satisfied with a desire for maintaining a desired course. Change, endings and new beginnings are the only constant in the universe. Recent and tragic events in Asia have effected us deeply and have made us all feel a little helpless, but WE ARE NOT. Our outer reality can be deceiving and might make us forget our divinity for a short time. It can make us feel small and vulnerable.
During the winter season I always turn toward various Christ teachings to inspire me and to anchor the season in my heart. This year I pulled out "The Jesuha Letters" by a dear heart brother, Jon Marc Hammer. As I re-read Jon Marc's experiences and Jesuha's teachings, it became quite clear why I pulled this volume from my library. It reminded me that this great teacher, we call Jesus, said "What I have done you can also, and greater things". These greater things were never spelled out for us. We were just given the wide open arena of possibility of new and better ways to live, heal, teach, help and love. We are reminded that we are not separate from God at all. The feeling of separateness is just a self imposed illusion from which we can awake. The time is long over due. It is time to wake up and claim the power of creation we have always had in our souls.
While I was traveling in Peru over spring Equinox in the Southern Hemisphere, Lord Meru of the Brotherhood of the Seven Rays gave a message about finding new ways, since old ways are not working anymore and being swept away (the message can be read at http://www.kachina.net/~alunajoy/2004nov.html). Lord Meru's message was an urgent one and with current events accelerating, The Star Elders feel the new ways must come about sooner, than later. Winter Solstice and new year times are a great time to dive inward to discover these new ways. It is time to think shamanically and to create from the unexpected.
In this time so much is being asked of us. Many of the old ways are loosing their effectiveness. As they fade away, they make room for new creative ideas for a better future. We are left numb at this huge void, the open sea of possibility that we are swept up in. We are feeling unfocused and fuzzy with little direction in these new times. We are being asked to make choices without guidance, without leaders to follow, because we are those leaders!
The universe and nature is surely saying it is time to find a new way. When I watch a dear friend nearly escape the waves in Sri Lanka, when I see an entire home for orphaned children protected from Peruvian mudslides, it is clear that the waters of the earth are trying to cleanse her. Other signs being seen: Snow hit for the first time ever over the mountains of Ras Al-Khaimah in the United Arab Emirates as well as above-average rainfall; global warming, tectonic plates moving, volcanic activity. Even here in Sedona, all the way west to the west coast, areas have been hit with destructive flooding, winds, rain, snow and hail. I am amazed at stories of survival when one is taken and the another is not. It has strong apocalyptic over tones for sure. It is a huge cleansing. The spirit of water is saying something to us now. Are we listening?
Who would better understand water and its mystical power than Dr. Masaru Emoto, the energy vibration researcher who wrote "Messages from Water" (www.masaru-emoto.net/english/entop.html). He suggests that we can help limit the secondary disaster of infections from polluted water in Asia by sending positive intent and love to the Indian Ocean's rim countries! Dr. Masaru Emoto says "Now is the time to send feeling of Love and Thanks (see photo) to the Earth's water." The message is getting crystal clear. Listen to the water. It is speaking to us. It shows us the problem, but also is giving us the answers.
We must know we are safe, and that we are here to help in any large or small way that we can. We must keep on, keeping on no matter what. If we are asked to make our journey to the next world, it was meant to be. If we are left behind in the wake of huge waves of change, there is something more for us to do here.
As we enter a new year with these things in mind, we must realize that we have grown stronger and wiser in the last few weeks. Our compassion has grown beyond artificial borders, beyond illusionary differences between race, religion or country. Challenging times help us find the humanity that binds us all together.
For these things I am grateful. I am grateful for those who continue to hold the vision and keep on working in the light unaffected by outer appearances and shiftings. You are the heroes of the future myths yet to be written. Thank you for keeping on keeping on, and keeping your light filled eyes on the bigger picture.
